The Coin Look - Counterfeit Detection - 1893-S Morgan Dollar

The 1893-S quite easy to detect a counterfeit.

With a mintage of 100,000, only one obverse die was used.

There are certain things to look for, as with any coin, to tell the good from the bad.

One of the easiest to spot is the die-scratch in the T of LIBERTY.

The second would be the "rabbit ears" in the base of the R.

This is the only coin that has these two characteristics, so chances are if these match it, it is authentic.
