The Coin Look - Counterfeit Detection - 1909-S Indian Cent

Seen more often than the 1877, a counterfeit 1909-S Indian Cent is not as common as many others.

When counterfeited, it is normally done by adding an "S" mintmark to a genuine 1909-Plain Cent.

Pictured below is a close up of the mintmark area on a genuine 1909-S Indian Cent.

If there is a coin in question, compare the shape/openness of the S, as well as the location.
